The object of the act is to provide Festival holidays and National Holidays so determined by the employer in consultation with representative of the workmen and notified to the authorities under the act.
The employer should submit the list of Festival and National Holidays every year before the commencement of the year and display a copy in the notice board.
Employees are eligible for wages for the notified National and Festival Holidays and in the event of any exigencies if they are engaged to work on that holidays they will be paid double the wages or compensatory off.
The employer should maintain a register of holidays and indicate whether the double wages or Compensatory Off.
If the employer contravenes the provision of the acts shall be punishable with fine
